Job Overview:
A leading energy trading firm is seeking a power trading analyst to join their dynamic team in Connecticut. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, modeling market dynamics, and solving complex problems in the energy space. You'll collaborate with a team to support pricing, forecasting, and deal execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze power market fundamentals including load, pricing, volatility, and basis spreads across different ISOs
- Support pricing and valuation of energy derivatives and structured products
- Develop and maintain models for forecasting load, weather impacts, and market risk
- Collaborate with traders and marketers to identify opportunities and optimize deal structures
- Conduct research on capacity markets, renewable energy credits, and ancillary services
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field
- 3-6 years of experience in energy markets, trading, or analytics
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; familiarity with data visualization and statistical modeling tools is a plus
- Understanding of power market dynamics, derivatives, and risk valuation preferred
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
