Overview

The Managing Director in the Office of the CFO (OCFO) practice is a senior executive responsible for driving large‑scale finance transformations, leading complex client engagements, and generating significant revenue growth. This leader oversees teams delivering high‑impact financial operations, reporting, and performance‑improvement solutions. The role partners directly with C‑suite executives, private equity stakeholders, and corporate leadership to improve efficiency, governance, strategic insight, and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Transformation Delivery

  • Lead major finance‑led transformation initiatives across corporate and private equity-backed organizations.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end engagement delivery, ensuring exceptional quality, strategic alignment, and measurable impact.
  • Provide executive‑level guidance on financial reporting, performance management, and organizational redesign.

Revenue Generation & Business Development

  • Drive enterprise‑level sales efforts, originating and closing new business opportunities.
  • Develop and expand relationships within corporate finance, private equity firms, and portfolio companies.
  • Deliver annual revenue targets typically ranging from multi‑million‑dollar pipelines to sustained year‑over‑year growth.

Strategic Finance & Transaction Support

  • Advise on complex financial matters including SEC reporting, purchase accounting, restatements, and IPO readiness.
  • Lead diligence efforts for acquisitions, divestitures, integrations, and carve‑outs, including Day‑1 readiness and synergy planning.
  • Oversee financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data‑driven strategic decision support.

Operational Finance Optimization

  • Guide clients through improvements in accounting operations, close cycles, forecasting, and performance reporting.
  • Enhance balance sheet management, working capital, cash flow transparency, and liquidity forecasting.
  • Structure and implement upgraded reporting frameworks, KPI dashboards, and governance models.

Interim Leadership & Executive Support

  • Step into interim CFO, CAO, Controller, or senior finance roles when required.
  • Provide leadership coaching and support finance executives through high‑pressure or rapid‑change environments.

Team Leadership & Practice Development

  • Mentor, coach, and develop teams across multiple skill levels, fostering a high‑performance culture.
  • Strengthen practice capabilities, refine go‑to‑market strategies, and contribute to long‑term organizational growth.
  • Promote best‑in‑class client service and operational excellence across all engagements.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in finance transformation, accounting advisory, transactions, or executive‑level consulting.
  • Strong background working with corporate finance functions and/or private equity portfolio companies.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large‑scale finance initiatives and managing cross‑functional engagement teams.
  • Proven ability to generate significant revenue and build sustainable client relationships.
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting, operational finance, complex accounting matters, and strategic planning.

Compensation: $275,000 - $375,000
