Korea Equity Analyst | L/S Investment
Selby Jennings has partnered with a market leading employee-owned proprietary trading firm investing across discretionary, systematic, and market-making strategies. They are currently looking to add a sector agnostic Korean Equities Analyst to their Hong Kong team, supporting a Portfolio Manager on fundamental L/S equity investing across Korean listed companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research on Korean equities (business models, competitive positioning, risks)
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, analyse various materials including filings, earnings releases, and local research
- Monitor macro, sector, and regulatory developments in Korea
- Produce investment memos, generate and present investment ideas to the Portfolio Manager
- Participate in earnings calls, translating and summarising key insights
- Engage with company management and IR teams in Korean
- Support portfolio monitoring, including performance attribution and catalyst tracking
Requirements:
- 2-6 years of relevant experience in covering the Korean market
- Buyside experience considered an advantage (open to L/S, LO, or PE)
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skillset
- Native Korean language fluency is essential, with solid English communications skills
- High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset
- Ability to operate in a lean, high-performance investment environment
- A keen interest in developing a career as a public equity investor
