Role Overview
The Investment Operations Associate will sit at the center of fund operations-owning capital activity, fund books and records, valuations support, and investor reporting. You'll partner closely with Finance, Deal Teams, Legal/Compliance, and third‑party administrators to ensure timely, accurate, and well‑controlled processes across the PE lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage capital activity: prepare/review capital calls and distributions, management fees, preferred return accruals, and carry/waterfall tracking
- Maintain fund accounting and books & records; support NAV and LP allocations across funds, co‑invests, and parallel vehicles
- Coordinate quarterly valuations (ASC 820 fair value), supporting memos, and portfolio company data ingestion
- Prepare and review quarterly investor reports, capital account statements, and ad‑hoc LP requests/side‑letter deliverables
- Oversee cash management, bank/custody reconciliations, and inter‑fund activity
- Support audit and tax processes (including K‑1 review and timelines) in partnership with administrators and auditors
- Assist with new fund launches, closings, and onboarding of new investors (subscription docs, onboarding data, equalization)
- Enhance internal controls, data quality, and workflow automation across fund admin, accounting, and reporting systems
- Partner with Legal/Compliance on regulatory and firm‑level reporting as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- 2-6 years in private equity fund operations or fund administration (Big 4/transaction services exposure a plus)
- Strong grasp of PE mechanics: capital calls/distributions, management fees, carry/waterfalls, allocations, and ASC 820
- Advanced Excel; experience with eFront, Investran, Allvue, Black Mountain/NXTerra, Clearwater, or SS&C is a plus
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deal‑driven environment
- Clear communicator with a collaborative approach and bias for process improvement
