Investment Banking Associate
A leading independent investment bank is seeking a highly motivated Associate (A1 / A2) to join its Consumer & Retail Investment Banking team in New York. The firm is recognized for its deep sector expertise, senior-led execution, and strong relationships across strategic and financial sponsor communities.
This role offers significant responsibility in transaction execution, client interaction, and mentorship of junior team members, with exposure to a wide range of M&A, capital markets, and advisory assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of M&A, strategic advisory, and capital raising transactions across the consumer sector
- Lead the creation and review of financial models, including:
- LBO models
- DCF analyses
- Accretion/dilution models
- Operating models
- Draft and oversee preparation of client materials, including pitch books, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), and management presentations
- Conduct industry, market, and company-specific research to support client engagements
- Coordinate and manage due diligence processes, data rooms, and interaction with clients, buyers, and advisors
- Mentor and supervise Analysts and junior teammates, including review of work product and providing developmental feedback
- Participate in client meetings, calls, and negotiations, gaining meaningful exposure to senior bankers and executives
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of investment banking experience (or equivalent experience in private equity, corporate development, or transaction advisory)
- Demonstrated experience in M&A and financial modeling
- Prior exposure to the consumer, retail, e-commerce, or related sectors strongly preferred
- Strong accounting and valuation knowledge
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools
- Bachelor's degree required; strong academic track record
