Equity Sales
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-performing Equities Sales professional to join our Asia platform, based in Hong Kong. The role focuses on driving institutional client coverage and revenue growth across equities products, with a strong regional remit spanning Asia ex-Japan.
The successful candidate will leverage deep market knowledge, strong client relationships, and close collaboration with research, trading, and capital markets teams to deliver differentiated ideas and execution solutions to institutional investors.
Key Responsibilities
Client Coverage & Relationship Management
- Build, develop, and maintain relationships with institutional clients (e.g., long-only funds, hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers) across Asia ex-Japan
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients' equities needs, including idea generation, execution, and market colour
- Identify opportunities to deepen wallet share with existing clients and onboard new accounts
Revenue Generation
- Drive equities flow revenue through high-quality sales coverage across cash equities, block trades, and equity-linked products
- Partner with trading desks to deliver best execution and liquidity solutions
- Consistently meet and exceed individual and team revenue targets
Market & Product Expertise
- Provide clients with timely market insights, trade ideas, and sector-specific intelligence
- Work closely with Equity Research analysts to distribute differentiated research and corporate access opportunities
- Maintain strong knowledge of regional equity markets, macro trends, and sector dynamics
Internal Collaboration
- Coordinate with trading, ECM (Equity Capital Markets), and research teams to deliver a seamless client experience
- Support primary market activities including IPOs, placements, and follow-ons by leveraging client relationships
- Contribute to cross-selling opportunities across the broader platform
Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and execute a regional sales strategy aligned with firm priorities
- Monitor client activity, competitor positioning, and market developments to identify growth opportunities
- Provide feedback to internal stakeholders on product gaps and client demand trends
Key Requirements
Experience
- 5-12+ years of experience in equities sales within a sell-side institution
- Proven track record of revenue generation and strong client relationships
- Experience covering regional / pan-Asia institutional clients preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of equities markets (cash equities, equity derivatives, ECM)
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to generate differentiated trade ideas and interpret market data
- Strong commercial mindset with P&L ownership orientation
- High level of team collaboration and stakeholder engagement
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related discipline
- Relevant regulatory licenses (e.g., SFC Type 1) or ability to obtain
