Director Credit Risk Officer Project Finance
A leading financial institution is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Credit Risk Officer (Director level) to join its North America team. This role will primarily focus on Corporate and Structured Finance, with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure and Project Finance transactions. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive credit risk assessments, preparing detailed credit opinions, and providing insightful market and financial analyses for both new and existing clients across the Americas.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit Risk Analysis: Prepare in-depth credit risk opinions, market analyses, and financial assessments for proposed transactions and annual reviews, with a focus on Corporate and Structured Finance, particularly Infrastructure and Project Finance.
- Industry Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of relevant industries and transaction structures.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Oversee a designated portfolio segment, producing credit assessments including annual and quarterly reviews, watchlist reports, and evaluations of amendments and waivers.
- Process Improvement: Support enhancements to credit risk processes and documentation templates.
- Risk Reporting: Identify and report credit events that may impact borrower creditworthiness or industry stability.
- Management Reporting: Contribute to portfolio updates and insights for senior leadership.
- Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal lending policies throughout the credit lifecycle.
- Collaboration: Partner with origination, workout, portfolio management, loan review, and analytics teams.
- Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support onboarding and prioritization of new counterparties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Credit Risk Assessment for New Exposures:
- Evaluate credit risks for new clients in Corporate and Structured Finance, with a focus on Infrastructure & Project Finance in North America.
- Analyze complex, often non-recourse transactions involving construction phases across sectors such as renewable/thermal energy, data centers, and transportation infrastructure.
- Prepare comprehensive credit opinions for new transactions and ongoing reviews, ensuring policy compliance.
- Conduct industry research and financial model sensitivity analysis to support recommendations.
- Collaborate with origination and syndication teams.
- Present findings to senior management and credit committees.
Portfolio Monitoring of Existing Exposures:
- Monitor credit performance of existing accounts.
- Prepare detailed reviews and assessments for ongoing monitoring and event-driven requests.
- Track covenant breaches and process internal credit alerts.
- Maintain accurate internal and regulatory ratings and classifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field required; MBA preferred.
- Strong understanding of banking systems and financial products, including structured finance and capital markets.
- Experience in sectors such as renewable energy, digital infrastructure, project finance, transportation, or corporate lending is highly desirable.
- Expertise in credit risk analysis and cash flow modeling.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in credit risk, portfolio management, or front office roles.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
