You can work fully remotely from anywhere in Germany. However, we ask that you attend a monthly team meeting in Berlin. All travel costs will be covered by the bank.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver legal guidance on German financial regulations, including MaRisk, the German Banking Act (KWG), and EBA standards.
- Assist the Compliance Officer in regulatory reporting and oversight tasks.
- Interpret and implement governance expectations from the European Central Bank (ECB).
- Provide legal analysis and strategic advice on regulatory developments at both national and EU levels.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on the organisation.
- Design and conduct training sessions to enhance regulatory awareness across departments.
- Lead the rollout of policies with significant regulatory impact.
- Execute and clarify internal control measures, ensuring they meet compliance standards.
- Promote a culture of compliance by influencing behavioural change where needed.
- Serve as a key legal advisor to business units and senior leadership.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including executive-level management.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified legal professional (1st State Exam or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in working with ECB regulatory requirements.
- Extensive in-house legal experience within the banking or financial services sector.
- Fluent in both German and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong grasp of German and EU financial regulatory frameworks.
- Skilled in analysing complex legal issues and supporting strategic decisions.
- Capable of fostering collaboration and driving compliance initiatives across departments.
