Commodities Portfolio Manager

Reports To: Head of Commodities / Chief Investment Officer
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially driven Commodities Portfolio Manager to lead the development and execution of investment strategies across physical and derivative commodity markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating alpha through discretionary and/or systematic trading strategies, managing risk, and contributing to the broader investment team's performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage commodity investment strategies across energy, metals, and/or agricultural markets.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis including macroeconomic trends, supply/demand dynamics, geopolitical risks, and seasonal patterns.
- Execute trades across futures, options, swaps, and physical markets in line with portfolio mandates.
- Monitor and manage portfolio risk, ensuring adherence to internal limits and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with research analysts, data scientists, and other PMs to enhance strategy development and idea generation.
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, and market participants.
- Prepare regular performance reports and present investment rationale to senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of ESG-integrated commodity strategies where applicable.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven track record as a Portfolio Manager or Senior Trader in commodities markets.
- Deep understanding of commodity fundamentals and derivatives pricing.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; experience with Python, R, or MATLAB is a plus.
- Familiarity with risk management frameworks and portfolio construction techniques.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience in systematic strategy development or machine learning applications in commodities.
- CFA, CAIA, or FRM certification.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for markets and innovation.
