Claims Technical Specialist
A well-established regional provider of third-party claims administration and risk services, operating as part of a larger insurance organization, is seeking a Claims Technical Specialist. This role is responsible for overseeing complex casualty claims that may include litigation, subrogation, and indemnity components, with a focus on achieving fair, timely, and cost-efficient outcomes.
The position involves advanced oversight of litigated matters, managing claim-related expenses, and supporting settlement strategy and negotiations. In addition, this role acts as a subject matter expert and mentor, contributing to the training and professional development of claims staff while collaborating with leadership to deliver strong results for self-insured clients. The specialist also assists senior leadership in coaching and developing employees in claims management practices.
Location: Candidates should ideally be based in the Harrisburg, PA or New Jersey region.

Core Responsibilities
- Follow client-specific handling guidelines for self-insured accounts
- Mentor and train claims staff to enhance litigation handling skills and overall quality
- Manage a portfolio of high-exposure, complex claims
- Support leadership with training initiatives and ongoing staff development
- Guide claims teams on litigation strategy, including coverage interpretation, counsel assignment, and settlement negotiations
- Build and maintain productive relationships with attorneys and external partners to achieve efficient claim resolution
- Utilize internal systems effectively and adapt to new tools and technologies
- Control litigation costs through proactive and strategic case management
- Prepare claim summaries, participate in client discussions, and present key updates
- Develop and deliver annual stewardship reports
- Complete required excess reporting in accordance with policy provisions
Additional Duties
- Analyze and interpret data to address business challenges
- Work with moderately complex datasets to support decision-making
- Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments impacting claims
- Pursue ongoing professional development related to litigation handling

Qualifications
Education / Credentials
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Insurance-related certifications (e.g., Associate in Claims) are a plus
- Adjuster license required or willingness to obtain
Experience
- At least 5 years in casualty claims, with a strong emphasis on litigation
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems
- Solid understanding of tort law, insurance coverage, and claims regulations
- Strong negotiation capabilities
