Account Executive
About the Opportunity
A growing employee benefits consulting and brokerage organization is seeking an experienced Account Manager to support and manage a book of large-group clients (51+ lives), including both fully insured and self-funded programs. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, oversee day-to-day account management activities, and play a key role in maintaining long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for client service needs while providing administrative support for an assigned book of business.
- Maintain an active Life & Health license.
- Manage client onboarding, renewals, open enrollment meetings, and ongoing client meetings.
- Lead renewal strategy and execution, including preparing RFPs, gathering and evaluating carrier proposals, developing renewal recommendations, and presenting options to clients.
- Resolve complex service issues, including claims-related concerns, while escalating matters when appropriate.
- Oversee client compliance initiatives, including annual compliance reviews and Health & Welfare plan compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely records within agency management and benefits administration systems.
- Coordinate employee communications and enrollment-related materials.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, vendors, and other business partners.
- Educate clients on industry trends, legislative updates, and market developments.
- Review contracts and assist with carrier and vendor negotiations.
- Support vendor management initiatives on behalf of clients.
- Prepare and review utilization and reporting analytics with clients.
- Manage and maintain client benefits administration platforms and portals.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and introduce additional lines of coverage.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including industry certifications, training programs, seminars, and continuing education.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active Life & Health Insurance License required.
- Experience managing large-group employee benefits accounts.
- Strong knowledge of fully insured and self-funded health and welfare plans.
- Understanding of employee benefits compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Proven client relationship management and communication skills.
- Experience conducting renewals, RFPs, and carrier negotiations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
