Senior Quantitative Developer
Our client is a growing energy trading business headquartered in northern Germany. The team consists of experts covering developing and modeling with strong academic backgrounds in mathematics or physics. Reporting into the Head of Analysis, you will cover a number of tasks and shape the quantitative analytics area directly. German language skills are a great plus, very good English speaking skills are mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine forward curve models for power, gas, CO₂, and renewables using market fundamentals and seasonality.
- Design, backtest, and implement algorithmic trading strategies.
- Optimize storage and flexibility assets (e.g., batteries, electrolysers) under market and operational constraints.
- Contribute to portfolio risk evaluation and maintain infrastructure for quantitative analysis.
- Collaborate with meteorologists to build renewable generation forecast models using weather data and machine learning.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Physics, Engineering).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quantitative modeling within energy trading or financial markets.
- Strong Python skills with expertise in time-series modeling, optimization, and machine learning.
- Proven ability to deploy production-grade quantitative models.
- Preferred expertise in one or more areas: forward curve modeling, algorithmic trading, storage optimization, or renewable forecasting.
