Investment Banking Financial Sponsors Analyst
A leading elite boutique investment bank is looking for an Investment Banking Analyst to join its Financial Sponsors Group in New York. This opportunity is ideal for an Analyst with experience in a traditional M&A, industry coverage, or Leveraged Finance team who is looking to develop a broader understanding of the private equity ecosystem and build a foundation for long-term career growth.
The role is particularly attractive for candidates interested in gaining exposure to sponsor coverage, relationship management, and strategic business development before pursuing internal advancement opportunities or transitioning into Investor Relations, Capital Formation, Business Development, or Fundraising-focused roles within the private equity landscape.
Responsibilities
- Support senior bankers in managing relationships with private equity sponsors across the middle market and large-cap landscape.
- Conduct industry, sponsor, and market research to identify business development opportunities.
- Prepare client presentations, marketing materials, and strategic analyses for sponsor coverage initiatives.
- Assist with transaction origination efforts and coordinate across industry and product teams.
- Monitor sponsor activity, portfolio company developments, fundraising activity, and broader private equity market trends.
- Build and maintain financial analyses, databases, and internal relationship management materials.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to ongoing coverage efforts.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of Investment Banking experience.
- Background in:
- M&A
- Industry Coverage (Consumer, Industrials, Technology, Healthcare, etc.)
- Leveraged Finance
- Strong preference for candidates with traditional execution experience.
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Demonstrated interest in private equity, sponsor coverage, and business development.
