Distressed & Special Situations Associate
Position Overview:
A dynamic and entrepreneurial investment firm is seeking a highly analytical and driven Investment Analyst to join its team focused on private credit and special situations. The firm specializes in complex, opportunistic investments across a range of asset classes, with a particular emphasis on distressed debt, litigation finance, and bespoke credit solutions.
This is a high-impact role offering exposure to all aspects of the investment lifecycle, including sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Analysis:
Conduct deep-dive financial and operational analysis of potential investments, including distressed companies, litigation claims, and structured credit opportunities.Due Diligence:
Support the underwriting process through market research, legal review, and engagement with third-party advisors.Modeling & Valuation:
Build and maintain detailed financial models, scenario analyses, and recovery forecasts.Deal Execution:
Assist in the preparation of investment memos, term sheets, and transaction documentation.Portfolio Monitoring:
Track performance of existing investments, including covenant compliance, valuation updates, and exit planning.Market Intelligence:
Stay current on macroeconomic trends, legal developments, and sector-specific dynamics relevant to the firm's investment strategy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree or CFA designation a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, private credit, restructuring advisory, or a similar analytical role.
- Strong financial modeling and Excel skills; familiarity with legal documentation and capital structures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Interest in complex, non-traditional investment strategies.
