Platform Engineer
About the Role
An established investment firm is seeking a Platform Engineer to support and enhance its quantitative research and trading technology platform. This role combines software engineering, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure responsibilities, providing the opportunity to work closely with research and investment teams on business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain research, analytics, and trading platforms used by investment teams
- Build internal applications, APIs, and tools for risk management, monitoring, and operational workflows
- Design and support data pipelines, storage solutions, and data processing systems
- Manage the deployment of research and production systems through CI/CD practices
- Support cloud infrastructure, including networking, compute, storage, and access management
- Administer Linux-based environments, containerized applications, and monitoring solutions
- Enhance platform reliability, scalability, security, and disaster recovery capabilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive technology improvements and platform evolution
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering
- Strong Python development experience in production environments
- Experience building applications, services, APIs, and user-facing tools
- Hands-on data engineering experience, including data pipelines and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
- Strong cloud infrastructure experience, ideally Azure or other major cloud platforms
- Solid Linux administration and Docker/containerization experience
- Good understanding of networking, security, and system reliability principles
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of production systems
Preferred Experience
- Experience within financial services, investment management, trading, or capital markets environments
- Exposure to quantitative research platforms, data-intensive systems, or trading technology
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi
- Experience with Rust or other performance-oriented programming languages
- Familiarity with SIEM, endpoint management, or enterprise security tools
