Managing Director, Lower MM Private Equity
Selby Jennings is partnered with a leading lower middle market private equity firm to identify a senior investment professional at the Managing Director level. The firm is a well-established investor with a long track record of partnering with management teams to drive operational value creation and long-term growth across its portfolio.
This individual will play a critical leadership role in originating, executing, and overseeing investments, while contributing to overall firm strategy and mentoring junior professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing and origination efforts, leveraging proprietary networks to develop actionable investment opportunities
- Serve as the primary deal lead on new platform investments and add-on acquisitions, overseeing diligence, negotiation, and execution
- Work closely with portfolio company management teams to drive strategic, operational, and financial initiatives
- Provide active oversight at the board level, including performance monitoring, value creation planning, and exits
- Collaborate with senior partners on fund strategy, portfolio construction, and capital deployment
- Support fundraising and LP relationship management, as appropriate
- Mentor and develop junior investment professionals, fostering a high-performance culture
Candidate Profile
- Senior-level private equity professional with significant experience in lower middle market investing
- Demonstrated success leading transactions from sourcing through exit
- Strong background in financial analysis, deal structuring, and valuation
- Experience partnering closely with management teams and adding value post-acquisition
- Established network within investment banking, executives, and intermediaries
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong leadership, judgment, and communication skills
