Job Overview:
A fast-growing, technology-driven energy firm focused on optimizing renewable generation and energy storage assets through advanced analytics and trading is seeking an Origination Manager to join their Austin-based team, responsible for driving business development, originating new opportunities, and supporting broader commercial strategy. This role is primarily focused on ERCOT, with expansion into other US power markets including PJM, MISO, CAISO, and NYISO.
Responsibilities:
- Own origination efforts across the full client life cycle, from sourcing and pitching through negotiation and deal execution
- Build and maintain relationships with asset owners, developers, and key market participants
- Develop tailored solutions across optimization, risk management, and structured products based on client needs
- Contribute to commercial strategy, including market positioning and product development
- Partner with internal trading, analytics, and product teams to support new and existing offerings
- Support the buildout of storage and renewables optimization capabilities in ERCOT and other markets
- Structure and originate hedging strategies, tolling agreements, and other risk management products
- Assist with expansion into new ISOs through relationship building and market assessment
- Manage client relationships from onboarding through ongoing account development
- Represent the firm at industry events and through broader market engagement
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in energy markets across origination, business development, trading, consulting, or related roles
- Strong knowledge of ERCOT power markets; familiarity with other ISOs is a plus
- Proven ability to develop client relationships and originate commercial opportunities
- Ability to engage with technical, quantitative concepts and translate them into practical solutions
- Experience with renewable energy, storage optimization, or structured products (e.g., tolls, hedging strategies) is preferred
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus
- Existing network within US power markets or experience supporting market expansion initiatives is advantageous
