Application Support Specialist - Trading Technology

A leading proprietary trading firm is seeking an Application Support Specialist to support mission-critical trading platforms and data workflows. This role combines production support, troubleshooting, deployment, and automation work within a fast-paced environment where technology directly impacts trading performance.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in application support, production engineering, or software development
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, multicast)
- Experience supporting applications in Linux and/or Windows environments
- Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web technologies
- Experience using browser developer tools, DOM inspection, and web troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to build and troubleshoot Regex patterns, work with JSON/JSONPath, and integrate with APIs
- Exposure to Docker containers
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a real-time production environment
Preferred
- Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash
- Experience supporting financial markets or trading applications
- Familiarity with Ansible, Chef, or similar automation tools
- Experience with Splunk, Grafana, Kibana, or comparable monitoring platforms
- Exposure to web automation, data extraction, or scraping tools
Responsibilities
- Provide production support for trading and market data applications
- Monitor systems and proactively identify operational issues
- Deploy, configure, and maintain software across production environments
- Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and networking issues in real time
- Develop and maintain automation and data extraction tools utilizing HTML parsing, APIs, Regex, and JSON-based workflows
- Partner with engineering and trading teams to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency
This is an hybrid position requiring 4 days per week of in person work in the firms Montreal office.
