Job Title: Vice President, Natural Gas Origination and Procurement
Location: Houston, TX or Boston, MA
Job Overview:
A leading energy company is seeking a Vice President of Natural Gas Origination & Procurement to lead fuel supply and commercial strategy for a growing portfolio of power generation assets. This individual will be responsible for securing reliable and cost-effective natural gas supplies, managing transportation and storage arrangements, executing commercial agreements, and developing strategies to optimize fuel costs and asset performance. The role will work closely with trading, operations, asset management, and executive leadership teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute natural gas procurement strategies across a portfolio of generation assets.
- Negotiate and manage natural gas supply, transportation, storage, and balancing agreements.
- Build and maintain relationships with producers, marketers, pipelines, utilities, and other market participants.
- Evaluate and execute structured transactions, hedging strategies, and commercial opportunities to optimize fuel costs and manage risk.
- Monitor market fundamentals, regulatory developments, and transportation constraints.
- Partner closely with trading, operations, and asset management teams to ensure reliable fuel supply and operational efficiency.
- Support long-term fuel planning and commercial optimization initiatives.
- Lead commercial negotiations and provide strategic market insight to senior leadership.
- Mentor and develop junior team members as needed.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in natural gas procurement, origination, marketing, trading, or commercial gas markets.
- Strong understanding of North American natural gas markets, pipeline transportation, storage, and supply fundamentals.
- Proven experience negotiating commercial agreements and managing key industry relationships.
- Familiarity with power generation, fuel management, and energy market dynamics.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify value-creating opportunities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is a plus.
