VP, Algo/SOR Developer
We are hiring a Senior Algo / Smart Order Router Developer to join a London-based systematic trading technology team. This role is focused on building and optimising execution algorithms from the ground up within electronic markets.
You will play a key role in developing greenfield trading systems that form the core of a next-generation execution platform, working closely with traders, product teams, and engineers in a fast-paced global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build a low-latency, high-throughput EMS / Smart Order Router
- Develop and refine execution algorithms based on liquidity, cost, latency, and execution quality
- Collaborate with traders and product teams to enhance routing logic and introduce new capabilities
- Monitor and optimise system performance in live trading environments
- Ensure system reliability, resilience, and failover capability
- Troubleshoot and support production trading systems
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building execution or routing systems in Java
- Experience across electronic markets (FX, equities, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of real-time market data processing and tick data analytics
- Hands-on experience with low-latency, high-performance systems
- Solid understanding of market connectivity (multicast / unicast data feeds)
- Background in algorithmic or high-frequency trading environments
- Experience with trading system architecture (OMS / EMS / market gateways)
- Strong knowledge of concurrency, networking, and memory management
- Comfortable working in Linux environments with performance tuning tools
- Ability to understand and work across full system architecture
Desirable
- Exposure to digital assets or alternative markets
- Experience in regulated trading environments
- Familiarity with cloud or hybrid infrastructure (AWS, GCP)
- Exposure to DevOps practices
