Underwriting Lead
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Underwriter to join a growing insurance firm based in Ohio, specializing in Generalist Property & Casualty (P&C) lines. This is a production-heavy, client-facing role ideal for a seasoned underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to take on leadership responsibilities while continuing to underwrite complex risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Actively underwrite a broad range of commercial P&C risks, including property, casualty, and specialty lines.
- Develop and maintain strong broker and client relationships to drive profitable growth.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including actuarial, claims, and risk control teams.
- Ensure underwriting practices align with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to strategic planning and portfolio management initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in commercial property and casualty lines.
- Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred.
- Proven track record in production underwriting and client relationship management.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience; CPCU or other relevant designations a plus.
