Team Lead - Credit Risk - Securities

This role supports the credit risk function for a Hong Kong-based investment firm. The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing credit risk across a range of products and jurisdictions, with a focus on fixed income, structured finance, and cross-border transactions. The role involves hands-on credit analysis, policy implementation, and stakeholder engagement, while leading a small team of credit analysts. As well as the above they will lead a smaller team of 3.

What does the role involve?

  • Conduct credit risk assessments for counterparties, issuers, and transactions across fixed income, securities lending, and structured products.
  • Support the development and implementation of credit risk policies and procedures aligned with group-level standards and local regulations.
  • Lead the credit approval process for assigned transactions, including due diligence, credit scoring, and exposure recommendations.
  • Monitor credit exposures and portfolio performance across Hong Kong and mainland China entities.
  • Collaborate with front office, legal, compliance, and operations to ensure credit risk is effectively managed throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Prepare regular reports and analysis for senior management, including risk dashboards, stress testing, and early warning indicators.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team of credit analysts, fostering technical development and risk awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with SFC regulatory requirements (Type 1, 4, 6, 9) and money lending license obligations.

What experience do you need?

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of credit products and regulatory frameworks in Hong Kong and mainland China.
  • Experience in credit analysis, risk monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with Chinese financial institutions and cross-border capital flows.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience with credit risk systems and reporting tools.
