Systematic Trader - Liquid Futures & FX
Location: New York
- We are working with a Major US Investment Bank's global trading business with deep expertise in liquid Futures and FX market making, now expanding into short-term systematic trading strategies. This is a new initiative focused on medium-frequency trading (MFT) across intraday (hours) to multi-day horizons, leveraging proprietary data and infrastructure to build scalable, high-Sharpe Market Taking strategies. This is a long-term strategic investment backed by senior leadership, with a mandate to build a differentiated trading capability that complements the existing market making operations.
- Design and implement short-term MFT strategies across FX, futures, and rates.
- Leverage proprietary data and infrastructure to develop high-confidence alpha signals.
- Operate with autonomy and ownership over your book, within a compliant structure.
- Collaborate with a small, high-impact team in a front-office trading environment.
- Contribute to the technical buildout of execution systems and analytics tools.
- They are building out a short term MFT, systematic risk-taking effort, similar to what non-bank competitors are doing.
- There is top-down appetite to expand into systematic risk-taking, beyond traditional market making.
- They are looking to add key Quant Traders with proven alpha strategies to systematize and shape their trading efforts across liquid products.
- Proven experience in systematic trading across liquid asset classes (FX, futures, rates).
- Comfort with shorter-term horizons (intraday to 1-week), ideally with Sharpe > 2.5
- They are keen to hire experienced talent from non-banks, especially those who have built liquid asset class strategies (e.g., liquid futures, spot FX, liquid rates).
- Not focused on pure HFT; more interested in systematic strategies with real risk-taking.
- Open to various seniority levels, including Trader/PM-level candidates who can build from scratch, Sub-PMs or Traders, and Sr. Quantitative Researchers
- Strong understanding of execution infrastructure, market microstructure, and signal development.
- Technical fluency in Python, C++, or similar, and familiarity with backtesting frameworks.
- Mandate to build: This is a greenfield opportunity with support from leadership and access to proprietary data.
