Steel Trader - Machined & Fabricated Components / Project Business

Location: Flexible (Europe preferred)
Industry: Steel Trading / Industrial Components / Project Business

About the Role

We are looking for a highly driven Steel Trader with deep expertise in machined steel parts, welded assemblies, and international project business.
The core of this role is commercial trading - sourcing, pricing, negotiating, and executing profitable transactions - while managing a global network of machining, fabrication, and finishing partners.

You will trade finished and semi‑finished steel components, support international tenders, and deliver complete project packages for customers across construction, infrastructure, machinery, and engineering markets.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Trading (Primary Focus)

  • Actively trade finished steel components, including machined parts, welded assemblies, and fabricated structures.
  • Develop and maintain a profitable trading book across European and global markets.
  • Execute trades from offer stage to logistics, delivery, and after‑sales.
  • Build long-term commercial relationships with suppliers, processors, and customers.

Global Sourcing & Supply Chain

  • Source machined and fabricated steel parts from a global network of processors (Europe, China, emerging markets).
  • Oversee imports/exports, quality control, pricing, and delivery performance.
  • Ensure cost-efficient and timely execution of all traded products.

International Project Business

  • Supply European construction and infrastructure clients with complete packages of welded parts, machined components, and other steel assemblies.
  • Manage multi-supplier project deliveries with strict technical and timeline requirements.
  • Provide integrated solutions combining trading, fabrication, machining, and logistics.

Tender & Bid Management

  • Manage international tenders involving structural steel, machined components, and fabricated assemblies.
  • Prepare competitive technical and commercial bids.
  • Coordinate suppliers, engineering teams, and logistics partners throughout the tender lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Strong background as a steel trader or trader of industrial goods (machined parts, fabricated components, steel products).
  • Technical understanding of machining, welding, and steel fabrication processes.
  • Experience in international project or tender-based business models.
  • Strong negotiation, pricing, and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with construction or infrastructure markets in Germany/Europe is an advantage.
  • Ability to work with global suppliers and manage complex cross-border trade flows
