Senior QA Engineer

Selby Jennings is working with a 50-person fintech startup that is looking to add a Senior/Lead QA Engineer to build the firm's first test automation infrastructure. The company is backed by a leading hedge fund group and is seeking a highly technical QA professional to build and scale the testing culture across the organization.
In this role, you will leverage your deep knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies to establish and enhance the firm's QA culture.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the overall QA strategy for manual and automated testing across all product areas.
  • Collaborate with engineering managers, product owners, and developers to embed quality at every stage of the SDLC.
  • Prioritize the team's workload and manage QA efforts across concurrent feature streams and bug-fix cycles.
  • Build robust automation scripts to test business functionality, including standard and custom objects, workflows, APIs, and integrations.
  • Continuously increase automation coverage by identifying gaps, writing new test suites, and refactoring brittle tests.
  • Define the QA playbook, including SOPs, bug severity rubrics, release checklists, and quality metrics that future team members will follow.

Qualifications

  • 3-7+ years of experience in a similar QA or test automation-adjacent role.
  • Experience with modern automation frameworks (such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, etc.).
  • Experience with Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Hands-on experience with a loan origination system (Encompass, Empower, Byte, etc.) is highly desirable, but not required.

Expected Compensation

  • $125,000-$150,000 base salary + cash bonus
