Senior Oil Traders (Various roles - Physical trading only, Physical & Paper trading, Derivatives (pure spec) trading only), Location: Singapore
We are working on a few mandates (both confidential and non-confidential) across global energy trading companies, oil majors, financial and non-bank financial institutions expanding their energy trading desks in Singapore. Together, they are looking to hire exceptional Oil Traders across single/multiple product categories with strong P&L track record.
Mandate 1: Physical Oil trading + Paper Trading (hedging only and some spec trades)
Type of firms: Entrepreneurial Energy Trading House / Global energy trading house
Products: Open to hire x-bbl, you can belong to any part of the barrel (crude oil, fuel (cargo), gasoil, jet, gasoline, naphtha, LPG, LNG, etc.)
Bonus: if you can trade all of them (i.e. x-bbl) depending on the economics/arbs of the trades into niche markets, but it is fine if you trade major in 1 or 2 oil products, that's okay as well
Years of experience: Minimum 5-15 years and above of oil trading experience able to function and trade independently, run your own trading book and your own flows
Sell of the role:
- Strong financing lines to support your physical oil trades
- Entrepreneurial individual and team environment
- Strong autonomy to run your oil trading business aligned to the risk management framework and compliance of the business
- Collaborative team culture to allow cross-pollination of deals success
- Have upstream assets / asset play (e.g. storage, tankers, offtakes, JVs, etc.) for blending/optimization to augment your trading business
- Transparent bonus structure (i.e. percentage of P&L)
Mandate 2: Oil Derivatives Trader (Purely Speculative only, No physical trading, Cross barrel trading experience a must)
Type of firms: Oil Major / Leading Energy trading company
Products to trade (MUST Haves): Presently doing spec paper trading experience (oil) across the barrel (must have)
Solid P&L track record, with your own VaR and drawdown limits/track record
Years of experience: Minimum 5-15 years and above of cross-barrel oil trading experience able to function and trade independently, run your own trading book, own your P&L, VaR and drawdown limits
You do not need to be trading physical oil now, but you MUST HAVE traded physical oil (any part of the barrel previously/ x-bbl previously) previously
Run your own trading book, own your P&L, VaR and draw down limits/ track record
Sell of the role:
- Attractive size of VaR and drawdown limits which commensurate with your trading experience and P&L track record
- Established top energy firm with strong financials
- Transparent bonus structure (percentage of P&L), uncapped
Mandate 3: Oil Derivatives Trader (Purely Speculative only, No physical trading, can be trading a single product or combination of products across the barrel)
Type of firms: Financial institutions and Non‑Bank Financial Institution (NBFI)
Products to trade (MUST Haves): Presently already trading in oil speculative trading experience (oil) any part of the barrel
Solid P&L track record, with your own VaR and drawdown limits/track record
Bonus: if you have traded cross barrel or are trading cross barrel already
Years of experience: Minimum 5-15 years and above of oil derivatives trading (i.e. any part of the barrel), able to trade independently
Run your own trading book, own your P&L, VaR and draw down limits
Sell of the role:
- Attractive size of VaR and drawdown limits which commensurate with your trading experience and P&L track record
- Run your own pod and bring on your team OR be part of a new/established trading pod
- Transparent bonus structure (percentage of P&L), uncapped
