Senior Manager - Casualty Claims
My client is a P&C insurtech and is hiring for a Senior Claims Manager based in Chicago. This individual will play a critical role in overseeing complex casualty claims while operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The role will have end-to-end ownership of claims, from initial assessment through final resolution, and will help shape scalable claims processes as the business continues to grow.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage complex casualty claims, with a strong focus on general liability and related lines
* Oversee the full claims lifecycle, from initial intake and coverage assessment through investigation, litigation management, and ultimate resolution
* Handle a high volume of claims while ensuring consistent quality, accuracy, and timeliness
* Develop and execute resolution strategies, including settlement authority and negotiation
* Manage and monitor outside counsel, TPAs, and other vendors to ensure performance, cost control, and alignment with internal standards
* Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, actuarial, legal, product, and technology teams to support claims outcomes and operational improvements
* Identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process optimization in a technology-driven environment
* Contribute to the development of scalable claims workflows, guidelines, and best practices as the platform expands
Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience managing complex casualty claims within P&C insurance
* Proven background in handling high-volume claims environments without sacrificing quality
* Strong expertise in initial claim assessments, coverage analysis, liability evaluation, and resolution strategy development
* Experience working closely with litigation counsel and managing disputable or litigated claims
* Prior experience at a carrier, MGA, or insurtech strongly preferred
* Ability to operate comfortably in a fast-paced, evolving insurtech setting
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
