About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading national insurance brokerage with a strong presence in Atlanta, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Account Executive to join their Employee Benefits practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned benefits professional who thrives in a client‑facing, consultative environment and who can independently manage mid‑market and large group accounts with strategic oversight, technical accuracy, and high-level service delivery.

As a Senior Account Executive, you will serve as the primary advisor to clients, ensuring their benefits programs are optimized, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. You'll work closely with producers, analysts, and carrier partners while contributing to client retention, renewal strategy, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management & Advisory

  • Act as the primary day‑to‑day contact for a defined book of mid‑market and large group clients, ensuring exceptional service and proactive communication.
  • Lead strategic benefits planning, including funding analysis, compliance review, benchmarking, and plan design recommendations.
  • Develop and present renewal strategies, financial models, stewardship reports, and market alternatives.
  • Anticipate client needs and provide consultative guidance on cost containment, employee engagement, compliance, and legislative updates.

Technical & Analytical Expertise

  • Review underwriting data, claims trends, and actuarial metrics to develop thoughtful, data-driven strategies.
  • Oversee and validate financial deliverables, including experience reports, analytics, modeling, and carrier renewals.
  • Ensure all client programs remain compliant with federal and state regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, etc.).

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Producers/Account Directors to drive client retention and expansion.
  • Oversee work of Account Managers, Analysts, and additional support staff to ensure accuracy and timely deliverables.
  • Participate in finalist meetings, strategy sessions, and new business opportunities as a subject‑matter expert.

Vendor & Carrier Relationship Management

  • Serve as a key point of contact with insurance carriers and vendors, advocating for client needs during negotiations and renewals.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, market conditions, emerging trends, and innovations to guide client recommendations.

Process Management & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all client deliverables (renewals, compliance documents, contracts, marketing materials) are accurate, timely, and aligned with internal quality standards.
  • Support internal workflow improvements, best‑practice development, and efficient team operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5-8+ years of experience in employee benefits brokerage or carrier account management.
  • Strong understanding of fully insured and self‑funded plans, including stop‑loss, PBM, and alternative funding strategies.
  • Proven experience managing mid‑market (100-500 lives) and/or large group (500+ lives) clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong client‑facing presence.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex accounts with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency with benefits data, financial modeling, underwriting principles, and Excel.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.

  • Experience working for a national or top‑tier regional brokerage.
  • Familiarity with HRIS/benefits administration platforms and data analytics tools.
