Restructuring Senior Associate
We are 50-person institutional finance firm currently focused on corporate restructuring, illiquid distressed investing, and debt private placements. We are national leaders in advice to Chapter 11 creditor committees and litigation creditors, and participate notably in many other restructuring, credit and leveraged finance verticals. We are based in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, with additional presence in West Palm Beach and Shanghai.
We are currently hiring at the SENIOR ASSOCIATE level
SENIOR ASSOCIATES perform Associate duties at a higher level of responsibility, creativity and output. Senior Associates have one to three years of restructuring or closely allied (e.g., distressed investing, high yield or leveraged finance) experience; three or more years of finance experience with demonstrated affinity and applicability to restructuring; or an MBA, JD or CFA with at least one year of relevant experience. Senior Associates are generally eligible for promotion to Associate Director - our anchor research/analysis team role - between 18 and 36 months of tenure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute complex financial analyses across restructuring, insolvency, litigation support, and valuation engagements, with limited supervision
- Take ownership of discrete engagement workstreams, including scoping, planning, execution, quality control, and timely delivery of work product
- Perform and review distressed company assessments, cash flow forecasting, liquidity analyses, and scenario modeling; validate assumptions and conclusions
- Support and execute out-of-court restructurings, bankruptcy matters, and emergency planning efforts, coordinating closely with engagement leadership and external advisors
- Prepare and review valuation analyses in accordance with applicable professional standards (e.g., USPAP, GAAP where applicable), ensuring methodological rigor and defensibility
- Develop, review, and refine financial models, schedules, exhibits, and supporting documentation for reports, expert testimony, and client presentations
- Serve as a primary day-to-day point of contact for clients on assigned workstreams; participate actively in client calls, meetings, and court-related proceedings as appropriate
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of Associates; provide constructive feedback to ensure quality expectations and professional development
- Manage assigned engagements within budgets and timelines; monitor progress, flag risks, and record billable time accurately and promptly
- Demonstrate strong professional judgment, accountability, and integrity in all internal and external interactions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- 2-6+ years of experience in restructuring, insolvency, forensic accounting, valuation, litigation support, consulting, or corporate finance
- CPA, CPA candidate, MBA, CFA, CIRA, or other relevant professional certification strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to synthesize complex financial and investigative data into clear conclusions
Preferred Skills
- Experience working directly with law firms, lenders, private equity sponsors, or distressed companies
- Advanced financial modeling and scenario analysis experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with GAAP, financial statement analysis, and valuation methodologies
- Experience supervising or reviewing junior team members' work
- Comfort operating under pressure and navigating rapidly changing engagement demands
These are in-office positions in Midtown Manhattan. All positions offer a competitive base salary; performance-based bonus; medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits with an employee pre-tax contribution to premium, 401k with match, and paid time off.
Compensation: $80,000 - $130,000
