Director, Public Finance
Location: Remote (with access to various office locations throughout the U.S.)
A leading middle-market investment bank is seeking a Director to join its Public Finance practice. This individual will play a key role in originating and executing municipal finance transactions, developing long-term issuer relationships, and providing strategic advisory services to municipalities and other public sector entities. The Director will be responsible for driving business development efforts, serving as a trusted advisor to clients, and leading transactions from origination through closing.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of generating revenue, winning new mandates, and successfully executing municipal financing transactions. Experience serving as the lead banker on sole-managed transactions is required.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, counties, school districts, special districts, and other public sector issuers.
- Originate new business opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the growth and revenue of the Public Finance platform.
- Lead the execution of municipal bond transactions, including transaction structuring, pricing, documentation, and closing.
- Serve as the primary advisor to clients on debt management strategies, capital improvement financing plans, refunding opportunities, and other financing alternatives.
- Manage and execute sole-managed and lead-managed public finance engagements.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to city councils, boards, finance committees, and other governing bodies.
- Coordinate with bond counsel, financial advisors, rating agencies, underwriters, and other financing participants throughout the transaction process.
- Monitor market trends and capital markets activity to provide strategic insight and recommendations to clients.
- Mentor junior team members and support the overall growth of the practice.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Significant public finance, municipal advisory, or public finance investment banking experience.
- Demonstrated experience originating and executing municipal finance transactions.
- Proven track record of generating revenue through client development, relationship management, and transaction origination.
- Experience leading sole-managed municipal financing projects from origination through execution.
- Established relationships within the municipal issuer community.
- Strong understanding of municipal bond structures, debt instruments, and capital markets.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Relevant FINRA licenses and industry registrations preferred.
