Private Credit Sanctions Officer

An international banking institution is seeking to appoint a Private Credit Sanctions Officer within its Luxembourg platform, supporting the Corporate Markets division. The role sits at the intersection of regulatory oversight, client engagement, and business growth, with close interaction across both Luxembourg and UK stakeholders.

The business focuses on delivering trading and financing solutions to financial institutions, alongside complementary activity across corporate and alternative asset segments, including private equity.

This is a senior-level appointment designed for an individual capable of combining technical sanctions expertise with strong commercial awareness and client-facing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact in Luxembourg for sanctions-related matters within the Private Credit and broader Corporate Markets activities
  • Provide advisory and oversight on sanctions compliance across complex investment structures, including exposure to private equity strategies and vehicles
  • Partner closely with front office teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved within regulatory boundaries
  • Support the structuring and approval of transactions involving financial institutions, corporate clients, and alternative investment platforms
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across risk, compliance, and business teams in both Luxembourg and the UK
  • Engage directly with clients where required, contributing to relationship management and commercial discussions
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure the platform remains aligned with Luxembourg and international sanctions frameworks
  • Contribute to the strategic growth of the business, balancing compliance integrity with business expansion objectives
  • Participate in governance forums and provide input on risk appetite and policy enhancements

Candidate Profile

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience within sanctions, compliance, or financial crime roles, ideally within international banking or alternative asset environments
  • Strong knowledge of the Luxembourg regulatory landscape, with a clear understanding of local and cross-border requirements
  • Experience supporting or interacting with Private Credit, Corporate Markets, or investment banking products
  • Exposure to Private Equity structures or alternative investments is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a client-facing capacity, combining technical expertise with commercial judgment
  • Proven track record of working in a dual-reporting or cross-jurisdictional environment, ideally with UK interaction
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both business and control functions
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to navigate complex transactions and regulatory considerations
  • Fluency in English is required; additional European languages would be advantageous
