Overview
We are working with a proprietary trading firm that is expanding its power trading capabilities and is seeking a Power Quant Trader to join a growing team in London.
This is an opportunity to join a well-resourced platform at an exciting stage of growth. The firm is actively investing in the buildout of the desk through additional capital allocation, infrastructure enhancements, and technology investment. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving strategy development and trading performance while helping to shape the future direction of the business.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage systematic and discretionary trading strategies across power markets
- Conduct alpha research and identify new trading opportunities
- Own the full strategy lifecycle from idea generation and validation through deployment and monitoring
- Execute trades and manage positions within defined risk limits
- Perform post-trade analysis and strategy performance reviews
- Work closely with quantitative and technology teams to improve research, analytics, and execution infrastructure
- Contribute to portfolio construction, capital allocation discussions, and risk management processes
- Support the continued growth and expansion of the power trading desk
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience trading power markets within a proprietary trading, hedge fund, or systematic trading environment
- Proven track record of profitable trading performance
- Experience developing and managing proprietary trading strategies
- Strong understanding of alpha generation, risk management, and portfolio construction principles
- Experience across the full trading lifecycle
- Strong quantitative and analytical skillset
- Coding ability preferred (Python or similar)
- Futures trading experience beneficial
