Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a highly capable Platform Engineer to build and scale the core research and analytics infrastructure used by investment professionals. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on developing reliable data platforms, workflow orchestration systems, and internal tools that enable large-scale research and production workloads.

You will work across the full technology stack, partnering closely with researchers, portfolio managers, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality platforms that support investment decision-making. The ideal candidate enjoys owning systems end-to-end, solving complex technical problems, and operating in a fast-paced environment where engineering quality and operational excellence are critical.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable research and data platforms used by investment teams.
• Develop production-grade Python applications, APIs, and internal tools that support the full research lifecycle.
• Build and maintain data pipelines responsible for ingestion, transformation, validation, and distribution of large datasets.
• Develop workflow orchestration frameworks using technologies such as Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or similar platforms.
• Design and optimize data storage solutions for structured and unstructured datasets.
• Build user-facing applications, dashboards, and interfaces that improve researcher productivity.
• Deploy and manage cloud-native infrastructure across Azure and hybrid environments.
• Manage containerized services and production workloads using Docker and related technologies.
• Monitor platform health, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in incident response and operational support.
• Implement security best practices across applications, infrastructure, authentication, and networking layers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify workflow gaps and proactively deliver solutions that improve platform reliability and efficiency.
• Drive engineering best practices including testing, automation, CI/CD, documentation, and code quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience owning and operating production systems independently or within a small engineering team.
• Expert-level Python development experience with strong understanding of:
  • Software architecture and design
  • Automated testing and quality assurance
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Production deployment and release management
• Strong full-stack engineering experience, including:
  • Backend services and APIs
  • Frontend development and internal web applications
  • Database integration and application security
• Proven experience building and supporting production data platforms, including:
  • Data pipelines
  • ETL/ELT workflows
  • Data storage and modelling
  • Workflow orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or equivalent
• Deep experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally Microsoft Azure.
• Experience working with hybrid cloud or on-premises environments.
• Strong Linux systems administration skills.
• Production experience deploying and operating Dockerized applications.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, system security, authentication, authorization, and operational risk management.
• Experience supporting business-critical systems with strict uptime, reliability, and delivery requirements.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to identify problems, make sound technical decisions, and deliver solutions with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a quantitative hedge fund, asset manager, proprietary trading firm, or financial institution.
• Exposure to research platforms, quantitative research workflows, simulation environments, or backtesting infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of financial markets, market data, reference data, or futures trading environments.
• Experience developing performance-sensitive systems using Rust.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as:
  • Terraform
  • Pulumi
  • Azure Bicep
• Experience implementing observability, logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms and security operations practices.
• Experience managing macOS fleets and endpoint management solutions.
• Knowledge of distributed computing, data-intensive systems, and high-performance engineering environments.
