Position Summary:

My client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Defined Contribution (DC) Consultant to oversee the full lifecycle administration of defined contribution retirement plans, including 401(k), 403(b), and profit-sharing plans. This role requires hands-on experience with plan operations, compliance, and client relationship management. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple plans independently and providing strategic guidance to plan sponsors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan Administration (A-Z):

    • Manage all aspects of DC plan administration including eligibility tracking, contribution processing, distributions, loans, and required minimum distributions (RMDs).
    • Maintain accurate participant records and ensure timely processing of transactions.
    • Monitor plan operations for compliance with ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations.
  • Client Consulting:

    • Act as the primary consultant for plan sponsors, providing guidance on plan design, compliance, and operational best practices.
    • Assist clients with plan amendments, mergers, and terminations.
    • Deliver plan performance reports and lead client review meetings.
  • Compliance & Reporting:

    • Coordinate annual compliance testing (ADP/ACP, top-heavy, coverage, etc.) and assist with corrective actions as needed.
    • Support preparation and review of Form 5500 and related schedules.
    • Ensure timely delivery of participant disclosures and notices (e.g., Safe Harbor, QDIA, Fee Disclosures).
  • Process Optimization & Quality Control:

    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Review work for accuracy and ensure adherence to internal and regulatory standards.
  • Participant Support:

    • Respond to participant inquiries regarding plan features, distributions, and loans.
    • Provide support for participant education initiatives and enrollment meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in defined contribution plan administration.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations.
  • Proficiency with recordkeeping platforms (e.g., Ascensus, Empower, Fidelity, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • ASPPA, NIPA, or CEBS credentials preferred.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong client service orientation and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with plan conversions, audits, or vendor transitions is a plus.
