Overview:
A leading global multi-manager investment platform is seeking a Macro Analyst/ Trader to join a high-performing discretionary macro investment team in Hong Kong. The role sits at the intersection of trading, market monitoring, and research, supporting a globally focused macro portfolio across rates and FX markets. This position offers direct exposure to portfolio construction and provides a clear path toward increased investment responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor portfolio exposures, market-moving events, and macro developments across global rates and FX markets.
- Execute and support trades across FX, FX options, interest rate swaps, futures, and related derivatives.
- Identify market risks, trade-relevant developments, and portfolio implications in real time.
- Develop concise macro views and communicate actionable insights to the investment team.
- Maintain trading processes, risk monitoring frameworks, and execution workflows.
- Partner with senior investors to evaluate investment opportunities and improve idea-generation processes.
- Gradually contribute proprietary trade ideas and independent research within the team's investment framework.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience within an analyst/ trading capacity.
- Strong understanding of either EM or G10 macro markets, with expertise in rates, FX, and central bank policy dynamics.
- Experience from either a buy-side investment platform, hedge fund, asset manager, or relevant sell-side trading desk.
- Working knowledge of FX spot, forwards, options, interest rate swaps, and futures markets.
- Ability to independently monitor risk, manage hedging requirements, and support execution activities.
- Proven ability to operate in fast-moving market environments with strong communication and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated interest in transitioning toward research, idea generation, and eventual risk-taking responsibilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to discretionary global macro investing.
- Experience synthesizing macroeconomic developments into actionable investment views.
- Programming or analytical capabilities in Python, SQL, VBA, or other quantitative tools.
