HPC Infrastructure Operations Lead
Location: Chicago or New York (on-site; frequent travel to HPC data centers)
An elite High frequency trading firm is looking to being on an HPC Data Center Operations leader to own the reliability and day-to-day execution of high-performance computing (HPC) data centers supporting a latency-sensitive, high‑frequency trading environment. This role leads on-site teams responsible for keeping critical infrastructure running at peak performance, with zero tolerance for downtime.
What You'll Do
- Lead site leads and operations teams across multiple HPC data centers supporting a latency‑sensitive trading environment
- Own operational standards, preventative maintenance, and day‑to‑day reliability for power, cooling, and hardware
- Act as the senior escalation point for incidents, driving rapid response and root‑cause resolution
- Oversee high‑density HPC hardware (CPU/GPU, networking, storage) and end‑to‑end break/fix operations
- Drive capacity planning for space, power, and cooling to support continued growth
- Partner closely with HPC engineering, networking, and research teams to align operations with trading demands
- Manage vendors, colocation partners, and on‑site execution across facilities
What You Bring
- 7+ years in data center or HPC operations, with 3+ years leading teams in 24/7 environments
- Strong experience running high-density, performance-critical infrastructure
- Deep knowledge of power, cooling, and reliability principles in modern data centers
- Hands-on understanding of servers, GPUs, networking hardware, and Linux systems
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-stakes trading environments
- Willingness to travel regularly to data center sites
