Head of Credit Risk Modelling (m/f/d)

We are currently partnering with a well-established, regulated financial institution to support the hiring of a senior leader within their Risk Modelling function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of quantitative risk professionals, promoting strong technical capability and leadership development
  • Own the full lifecycle of risk models, from initial design and development through validation, approval, implementation, and ongoing monitoring
  • Drive the development and enhancement of credit risk models (PD, LGD, EAD), expected credit loss (IFRS 9), stress testing frameworks, and treasury risk models
  • Ensure models meet both regulatory standards and practical business needs, balancing compliance with usability
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, managing model submissions, reviews, and ongoing supervisory engagement
  • Oversee model implementation into production systems, including testing processes and consistency across platforms
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across risk, finance, treasury, and capital functions to embed model outputs into decision-making
  • Support business use of models in areas such as underwriting, risk appetite setting, and capital planning
  • Monitor model performance and ensure timely execution of stress testing and reporting exercises
  • Identify and communicate model risks, limitations, and assumptions clearly to senior stakeholders and governance committees

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in credit risk modelling within a regulated financial services or banking environment
  • Strong expertise in IRB frameworks and IFRS 9 / expected credit loss methodologies
  • Proven track record of managing models across their full lifecycle, including regulatory approval and implementation
  • Experience leading and developing quantitative or risk modelling teams
  • Deep technical knowledge of PD, LGD, and EAD modelling approaches and associated regulatory expectations
  • Strong understanding of model governance, validation frameworks, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with regulators and handling model-related reviews or audits
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across multiple business functions
