Global Tech Analyst | Single CIO Hedge Fund
Selby Jennings has partnered with a Hong Kong-based, multi-billion USD single CIO hedge fund in seeking a Global Technology Analyst to join their research and investment team. This is an opportunity to work closely with the CIO, delivering deep fundamental research across the global technology landscape, with a particular emphasis on hardware, semiconductors, and related supply chains.
The successful candidate will combine strong buy-side investment judgment with a highly technical understanding of technology products and components, enabling them to form forward‑looking views on innovation cycles, specifications, and industry impacts across global markets.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in‑depth fundamental research on global technology companies, with primary coverage across hardware, semiconductors, and related ecosystems.
- Analyze product architectures, component breakdowns, and technology roadmaps to assess competitive positioning and earnings drivers.
- Develop differentiated views on forward‑looking specifications and their impact on supply chains, margins, and industry dynamics.
- Monitor global technology trends, including innovation cycles across the US, China, Japan, and other major markets.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to support investment theses.
- Generate actionable investment ideas and recommendations.
- Stay current on industry developments, emerging technologies, and relevant macro or regulatory factors impacting the sector.
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of buy-side investment experience (open to Long Only or Long/Short investment experience)
- Prior experience covering global hardware technology, including exposure to the US market.
- Additional experience covering US software is a strong plus, but not a must.
- Highly technical mindset, with the ability to break down products into key components and evaluate technology specifications and roadmaps.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willing to be based in Hong Kong.
