Job Title: Insurance Underwriter - Sports & Special Events
Location: U.S. Based | Remote or Hybrid Options Available

Position Summary:
My client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Insurance Underwriter to lead the underwriting, pricing, and management of sports and special event insurance products across the United States. This role combines technical underwriting expertise with business development and broker relationship management. The ideal candidate will assess risks, craft tailored coverage solutions, and play a key role in expanding this niche line of business.


Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting & Risk Assessment

  • Underwrite and price new and renewal submissions for a wide range of events, including sports organizations, amateur and professional leagues, tournaments, concerts, festivals, exhibitions, and other special events.
  • Analyze exposures and customize coverage terms, limits, and pricing in alignment with company guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging risks within the sports and event insurance landscape.

Broker & Client Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers nationwide.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by providing expert guidance and innovative solutions for complex or non-standard risks.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to broker inquiries and quote requests.

Business Development

  • Identify new market opportunities and contribute to business growth within assigned regions or segments.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows and association conferences to strengthen market presence and build strategic relationships.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all underwriting activities adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive underwriting files and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial underwriting experience, ideally within sports, entertainment, or special events.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. insurance market practices, policy wordings, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Active Broker License.
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven track record of managing broker relationships and closing deals.
  • Highly organized self-starter with excellent time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-standard software platforms.
