Data Product Owner - Sports Analytics
Job Summary
Selby Jennings is partnered with a Leading Data Analytics firm to join their sports analytics team to drive the vision, strategy, and delivery of enterprise sports data products that enable analytics, reporting, and business decision-making.
This role is ideal for a product management professional with a strong background in data platforms, stakeholder engagement, roadmap ownership, and agile delivery. The successful candidate will partner with business leaders and technical teams to prioritize investments, define product requirements, and deliver scalable data solutions that create measurable business value.
Responsibilities
- Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for enterprise data products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs.
- Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements, define product priorities, and translate strategic goals into actionable deliverables.
- Lead data modernization and migration initiatives, balancing short-term business needs with long-term platform scalability and governance.
- Drive agile product delivery by managing backlog prioritization, sprint planning, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder communications.
- Measure product success, identify opportunities for improvement, and champion best practices in data product management and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience delivering data products, data platforms, data lakes, or data warehouse solutions.
- Proven track record of defining product strategy, managing roadmaps, and delivering business-impacting products.
- Experience building sports analytics platforms heavily preferred
- Strong experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, including business leaders, engineering teams, and data organizations.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and other product management tools.
- Ability to balance customer needs, business priorities, and technical considerations when making product decisions.
Expected compensation - $120,000-140,000 base + bonus
