A leading crypto and blockchain firm is seeking a seasoned and enthusiastic Compliance Officer to join its growing team in Luxembourg City. This is a pivotal Second Line of Defense role, offering the opportunity to work at the forefront of the rapidly evolving digital finance industry.

As a key member of the Compliance function, you will collaborate closely with the EU Head of Compliance and global Risk & Compliance teams. You'll play a central role in strengthening financial crime and consumer protection frameworks, supporting innovative product launches, and ensuring operations remain aligned with Luxembourg and EU regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance compliance policies and procedures in line with Luxembourg/EU regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring and testing to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to senior management, the Board, and authorities.
  • Support regulatory inspections, internal audits, and external reviews.
  • Lead regulatory watch and impact assessments to stay ahead of evolving requirements.
  • Deliver compliance training across the business to promote a strong compliance culture.
  • Act as a key advisor on all compliance matters, including financial crime and sanctions.
  • Investigate unusual customer behavior and high-risk transactions in collaboration with global teams.
  • Optimize transaction monitoring and sanctions screening tools to ensure effective risk detection.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Compliance Program in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

What We're Looking For

Education & Certifications

  • Master's degree in Business, Law, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ACAMS, ACFCS, ICA) are a strong advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in a Compliance Advisory or Assurance role within a regulated financial institution (bank, EMI, PI, or fintech) in Luxembourg or the EEA.
  • Proven expertise in AML/CFT, sanctions compliance, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong understanding of EU and Luxembourg regulatory frameworks, especially in financial crime and consumer protection.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with legal, risk, and operations teams.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with MiCAR, EU DORA, and outsourcing regulations.
  • Experience with blockchain analytics tools and trade surveillance systems.
  • Prior engagement with Luxembourg regulatory authorities.
  • Experience running a compliance monitoring plan in a 2LoD or 3LoD capacity.

Languages

  • Fluent English is required.
  • French or other European languages are a plus.
