Job Title: Coffee Trader (Physical Focus)

Overview
We are working with a leading commodity trading platform looking to hire a Coffee Trader with a strong focus on physical trading. This role is centred around originating, negotiating, and executing physical coffee flows across key global markets. The successful candidate will have full ownership of their trading book, with responsibility for driving P&L through strong commercial relationships and market insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a physical coffee trading book, covering Arabica and/or Robusta flows
- Originate trades directly with producers, exporters, importers, roasters, and commercial end-users
- Negotiate contracts, pricing structures, and supply agreements
- Oversee full trade lifecycle including logistics, shipping, warehousing, and delivery
- Build and maintain a strong network across origin and destination markets
- Identify arbitrage opportunities across regions and optimise physical flows
- Stay close to market fundamentals including crop cycles, weather impacts, differentials, and freight dynamics
- Work closely with logistics, operations, and risk teams to ensure seamless execution
Requirements
- Proven experience in physical coffee trading (not purely screen/derivatives focused)
- Strong understanding of global coffee supply chains, origin markets, and trade flows
- Established network across producers, exporters, and end-users
- Track record of generating P&L within a physical trading environment
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to operate autonomously while building a scalable trading book
