Investment Banking Associate (Generalist) - New York
Overview:
A leading global investment bank is seeking an Associate (Generalist) to join its New York office. The role offers the opportunity to work across M&A, equity capital markets, and debt financings with exposure to both large-cap and sponsor-backed transactions.
This position is ideal for candidates with prior investment banking, private equity, or equivalent transaction experience who are looking to take on increased execution responsibility and junior team oversight within a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Play a central role in the execution of M&A transactions, IPOs, follow-ons, leveraged finance, and private placements.
- Coordinate due diligence processes, including managing data rooms, diligence requests, and third-party advisors
- Lead drafting of transaction materials, including: Confidential Information Memoranda (CIMs), Management presentations, Investor presentations and board material.
Financial Modeling & Valuation:
- Build and review fully integrated 3-statement models, including: DCF, LBO, merger models Accretion/dilution and financing analyses
-Perform valuation analyses (trading comps, precedent transactions)
-Oversee and quality-check Analyst work to ensure accuracy and consistency
Client Interaction & Deal Management:
- Serve as a key day-to-day contact for clients, private equity sponsors, and counterparties
- Support senior bankers in client meetings, deal negotiations, and execution strategy
- Manage multiple live deal workstreams simultaneously, often under tight deadlines
Project & Team Management:
- Supervise Analysts and provide mentorship, guidance, and workflow management
- Take ownership of workstreams and ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials
- Coordinate internally with product partners (LevFin, ECM, DCM, Sponsors, etc.)
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in investment banking (Associate promote or top-bucket Analyst), private equity, or M&A advisory
- Strong background in financial modeling and valuation
- Experience working on live deal execution (not just pitches) is required
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred but not required
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling best practices
