Company Overview

A leading quantitative investment firm focused on systematic trading across global markets is seeking an experienced AI/ML Quantitative Research Manager to drive the advancement of machine learning capabilities within its investment platform. This high-impact leadership role involves shaping the firm's AI/ML research road map, enhancing existing systematic trading models, and developing new data-driven signals using large-scale alternative data sets.

Working closely with the CIO of Quantitative Strategies, the research manager will lead the development and execution of cutting-edge AI/ML research while combining hands-on technical expertise. The role is focused on delivering scalable, production-grade models that improve portfolio performance, strengthen risk management, and enhance overall investment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with the CIO - Quantitative Strategies to define and execute the long-term AI/ML research road map
  • Design, prototype, and deploy production-grade AI/ML models leveraging large-scale alternative data sets
  • Improve efficiency, robustness, and profitability of existing systematic trading signals
  • Develop new AI-driven signals to diversify and complement core strategies
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and business teams to ensure scalable and compliant model implementation
  • Integrate novel data sources into the firm's data infrastructure
  • Enhance portfolio scalability and flexibility to meet client-specific requirements
  • Present research findings to senior management and investment committees
  • Produce research publications, and represent the firm at industry conferences

Key Requirements

  • PhD or MSc in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or similar)
  • 7+ years of hands-on AI/ML research experience in quantitative finance or a related data science environment
  • Strong expertise in building and deploying machine learning models in production
  • Solid understanding of systematic trading concepts (financial experience preferred but not essential)
  • Proven research track record (e.g., publications, conference presentations)
  • Advanced programming skills in languages used for quantitative research
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly
  • Exposure to securities, derivatives, and systematic strategies (mid-to-low frequency preferred)
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring quantitative researchers is advantageous.
