Sr Technical Business Analyst
Selby Jennings is partnered with a specialized energy trading firm looking to add a Senior Technical Business Analyst who will directly support trading, risk, and power scheduling systems.
In this role, you will serve as the bridge between front‑office trading and cutting‑edge technology, shaping how real‑time power markets operate. You will work with ETRM systems, API integrations, data workflows, and automation tools that drive multi‑million‑dollar trading decisions daily. This role requires a strong understanding of energy markets, programming languages such as Python or C#, and the ability to leverage technology teams to solve business pain points.
Responsibilities
- Support cross‑functional, end‑to‑end projects, including requirements gathering, system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post‑go‑live support. Manage the application side of large‑scale projects, ensuring systems are scalable and optimized for the future.
- Support ETRM applications across Bid‑to‑Bill processes, managing commodity trading, risk assessment, and compliance workflows.
- Contribute to system implementations, upgrades, and optimizations for ETRM and Bid‑to‑Bill applications. Identify and recommend areas for improvement to enhance performance, efficiency, and compliance.
- Develop and implement process improvements in trading, risk management, and project management through automation and enhanced use of technology.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in a similar role at an asset manager, investment bank, or fintech.
- Strong knowledge of ETRM/CTRM trading systems, ideally focused on power and energy markets.
- Strong understanding of system integration, data management, and API integration between specialized applications and enterprise systems.
- Commercial experience with Python and/or C#.
- Experience using SQL for database management and reporting tools.
- Exposure to Azure or related cloud‑based environments.
Expected Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000 Base + Cash Bonus
