Overview

A leading investment management organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and enhance technology solutions supporting portfolio management, trading, analytics, and operational workflows across multiple asset classes. This individual will work closely with investment professionals, quantitative teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable applications, data platforms, and workflow automation tools that drive investment decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, data engineering, cloud technologies, and distributed systems. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to modernization initiatives, improve platform scalability and reliability, and support critical investment technology capabilities in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery, testing, documentation, and prototyping while ensuring code quality and maintainability.
  • Design, develop, and support data platforms, services, and workflows that enable investment and analytics applications.
  • Build and maintain data ingestion, transformation, validation, and integration processes across a variety of internal and external data sources.
  • Develop Python applications, APIs, and microservices supporting analytical tools, portfolio management processes, and business workflows.
  • Create and optimize complex SQL solutions, including data models, ETL processes, and performance tuning for large-scale datasets.
  • Design and support event-driven and distributed architectures to improve scalability and system performance.
  • Develop cloud-native applications and services within modern public cloud environments.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment frameworks that promote stable and efficient software releases.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, data validation, and observability capabilities to improve operational resilience.
  • Partner with investment, analytics, and business teams to translate requirements into sustainable technology solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement through engineering best practices, automation, testing, and performance optimization.
  • Participate in production support activities and contribute to platform stability initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or application development.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience developing applications, services, APIs, or data processing solutions.
  • Solid SQL expertise, including experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Snowflake, as well as data modeling, ETL development, query optimization, and large-scale data processing.
  • Experience utilizing AI-powered development tools for coding assistance, testing, documentation, and solution design.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including pipeline design, validation, data quality, lineage, and error handling.
  • Experience building solutions within cloud-based environments.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies and modern application deployment practices.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, messaging platforms, and asynchronous processing patterns.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting investment, capital markets, asset management, trading, risk management, or financial analytics platforms.
  • Exposure to portfolio analytics, investment data, quantitative research workflows, or performance reporting solutions.
  • Experience with event-streaming technologies, distributed computing, or large-scale data processing.
  • Professional certifications related to investments, risk management, analytics, or financial services are considered a plus.
