Job Opportunity: Network Service Reliability Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL
Salary Range: $160,000-$200,000 + Bonus
Type: Full-Time | Hybrid | On-Call Rotation | Global Collaboration

Join a Chicago-based team as a Senior Network Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing ultra-low latency infrastructure for mission-critical systems. This position is perfect for seasoned professionals who thrive under pressure and excel at solving complex networking challenges. You'll collaborate with global teams in the U.S., Paris, and Tokyo to ensure seamless connectivity, rapid incident resolution, and consistent network performance across a high-stakes environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, including multicast routing and latency anomalies, with urgency and precision.
  • Configure and maintain multicast routing protocols (PIM-ASM, IGMP) and support BGP deployments.
  • Monitor real-time network alerts and performance metrics across global infrastructure.
  • Provision and deliver circuits and cross-connects while maintaining accurate documentation and inventory.
  • Act as a technical escalation point and mentor junior engineers.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support network operations.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in network operations, engineering, or infrastructure support.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
  • Expertise in Layer 2/3 protocols (STP, BGP, OSPF, multicast).
  • Proficiency with Linux environments and packet analysis tools (tcpdump, Wireshark).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (Zabbix, Grafana, NetBox, Observium).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure during incidents.

Preferred:

  • CCNP or higher certification.
  • Financial industry experience.
  • Scripting/programming knowledge (Python, Shell).
  • Familiarity with low-latency microwave or optical transmission systems.
