They are seeking a Senior Associate, Data Strategy & Alternative Data Research to partner closely with Fundamental Equity investors and play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and implementing proprietary and third-party datasets. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to investment professionals, helping transform complex data into actionable insights that support investment decision-making.
This is a highly visible opportunity offering extensive interaction with portfolio managers, analysts, data providers, and senior business stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to Fundamental Equity investment teams, helping identify and source alternative data that can enhance research and investment processes.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of emerging and sector-specific datasets across industries such as consumer, healthcare, technology, industrials, financials, and more.
- Develop a deep understanding of investment workflows and proactively recommend data solutions that create differentiated insights and competitive advantages.
- Evaluate, benchmark, and onboard new data vendors, ensuring datasets meet investment, operational, and compliance requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact between investment teams and internal stakeholders, including Legal, Compliance, Data Science, Engineering, and Procurement.
- Lead alternative data initiatives from initial discovery through implementation, managing project timelines, stakeholder communication, and execution.
- Cultivate strong relationships with data providers and oversee vendor engagement, contract negotiations, renewals, and ongoing performance reviews.
- Help educate investment teams on dataset methodologies, strengths, limitations, and how data can be effectively incorporated into investment research.
- Monitor developments within the alternative data landscape and identify innovative providers, products, and emerging trends.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience working with alternative data, market intelligence, or investment research data, either at a data provider, hedge fund, asset manager, investment bank, or related financial services firm.
- Strong knowledge of alternative datasets, including areas such as consumer transaction data, web traffic, healthcare data, geolocation, app usage, supply chain, or other differentiated data sources.
- Understanding of how alternative data is utilized within fundamental investing, equity research, or broader investment strategies.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, including commercial discussions, contract negotiations, and ongoing provider oversight.
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance frameworks, and regulatory considerations surrounding alternative data usage.
- Exceptional project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex datasets into practical insights for investment professionals.
- Proven ability to work across multiple teams and influence stakeholders in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a passion for uncovering unique information advantages through data.

Compensation: Base salary is expected to range from approximately $125,000 to $200,000, plus the opportunity for a meaningful performance-based bonus and comprehensive benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, expertise, and market considerations.
