Your Core Responsibilities
Python is a key component of the firm's technology ecosystem, widely used to create accessible tools for traders, researchers, and analysts. As a Python Software Engineer based in Amsterdam, you will contribute to the development of high‑performance systems and internal platforms, such as:
- Trading and signal‑generation frameworks
- Analytical and data‑visualization tools
- Backtesting systems
- Trade management interfaces
- Regulatory, surveillance, and risk‑monitoring solutions
You will work closely with both business stakeholders and other engineering teams-from requirement gathering through iterative development cycles-all the way to incorporating user feedback and implementing improvements.
All software is built strictly for internal use. You will work directly with your users in a highly collaborative environment that values curiosity about trading and market dynamics. Understanding context and business logic is essential.
Engineers receive responsibility early on and operate with a high degree of autonomy, supported by experienced mentors and motivated colleagues. Example projects may include:
- Adding new trading signals to internal frameworks
- Building data analytics and visualization tools for trading teams
- Debugging performance issues and conducting deep-dive analysis
- Coaching colleagues on Python best practices
- Developing and maintaining internal Python libraries
- Initiating new full‑stack projects from scratch
Your Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates with:
- 4+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer
- Expert-level Python knowledge, including deep understanding of its internals and limitations
- Experience with commonly used Python libraries and frameworks (e.g., FastAPI/AsyncIO, APScheduler, Pandas, Polars, RQ, Pytest, TensorFlow, SciPy, XGBoost, scikit‑learn, NumPy, Numba, Celery)
- Additional experience in DevOps, databases, big data, or modern frontend frameworks is a plus (e.g., Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, CI/CD platforms, TypeScript, React, Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, distributed storage or processing systems)
- A critical, questioning mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and explore edge cases
- Direct experience working with financial datasets, ideally within financial services, due to the nature of the role
- An interest in exploring and adopting new technologies-the engineering culture encourages selecting the best tools for each problem and investing in emerging solutions
