The Opportunity
We're working with a technology-driven organisation that operates a large-scale, business-critical platform used across multiple markets. As part of a growing infrastructure team, they are looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to take ownership of database reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with high-volume systems, automation, and performance optimisation in a modern Linux-based environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and maintaining PostgreSQL database environments.
- Monitoring system health, availability, and database performance.
- Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Developing and maintaining backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Supporting database upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure changes.
- Working closely with engineering teams on query optimisation and schema improvements.
- Troubleshooting production issues and driving root-cause analysis.
- Automating operational processes using scripting and infrastructure tools.
- Maintaining technical documentation and operational standards.
What We're Looking For
- Commercial experience administering PostgreSQL databases.
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational database architecture.
- Experience with database tuning, optimisation, backup, and recovery.
- Good understanding of Linux environments.
- Exposure to automation or configuration management tools is beneficial.
- Scripting experience with Bash, Python, or similar technologies is advantageous.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with developers and infrastructure teams.
- Fluent English communication skills.
